Yes.
I spent all morning kneading pie dough, cutting apples (with help from Josh,) mixing ingredients, and slaving over a hot oven.
I must say that Martha Stewart is a goddess. She knows what she is talking about. This is evident in everything she does. (Just don't take her financial advice.)
Pies are no exception. I used her pumpkin and apple pie recipe from her Baking Handbook.
I produced the pies of a life-time. They were near perfection.
However, just as we were leaving for my parent's house, the Pug pawed at the table and managed to knock over my apple pie. I was livid. I put so much heart into making these two pies.
Pikachu in Jail
Luckily, I had wrapped the pies in a series of parchment paper, and plastic grocery bags. The apple pie was salvageable.
Made of Steal
It was not picture perfect anymore, but as Josh says, "It's not about the look. It's about the taste."
And, the are just pies. Pies that can be made again and again. I hope.
That sound advice helped me remember that the pug was just trying to take participate in my baking event. Actually, we was probably just hungry.
Nonetheless, We didn't have a pug for Thanksgiving dinner. Just two pies: one picture perfect and the other fabulously flawed.
Thanksgiving was a wonderful day spent with Family.

Well, the dog does look sorry...
Your pies look fabulous! I can't make nice pie edges if my life depended on it.
Your pies look delish and definitely NOT flawed.
So sad Doggie, thats for sure.
